Fresh off the release of their debut album To Travels & Trunks, Hey Marseilles is a seven-piece chamber-pop group that has been described as having a “youthful earnestness, a genuine, unsullied passion for song.” The Hey Marseilles sound is immediate, evocative, mostly acoustic, and always emotive. Come see why many have called their album one of the best of the year as the Seattle natives perform in our new, intimate Downstairs space.
They share the bill with local favorite Vandaveer, the alt-folk song-singing/record making/globetrotting project penned and put forth by DC-by-way-of-Kentucky tunesmith Mark Charles Heidinger.
Cash bar and snacks will be available for sale. |

The California natives got a jump-start to popularity when Rolling Stone named them one of the top 25 Myspace bands shortly after they formed. Their debut 2008 album took off with the hit single “Sometime Around Midnight.” Started by lead singer Mikel Jollet and drummer Daren Taylor, the band expanded with classically trained violinist Anna Bulbrook (brought in to play viola and keyboards), jazz bassist Noah Harmon and guitarist Steven Chen. The Airborne Toxic Event has attained a reputation for energetic live shows with a blend of music that offers something for everyone. The captivating Calder Quartet will provide support with their beautiful strings during this not-to-be-missed intimate, acoustic performance.
"Occasionally you get lucky and stumble across a band at the very moment they ignite the engines and blast off into the heavens. The Airborne Toxic Event just gets louder and richer until the music practically bursts at the seams and spills its steaming guts across the stage." NME
