Spirited service for young professionals blending old and new traditions. This service uses the
Prayerbook for Days of Awe published by The Reconstructionist Press. Rabbi Shira Stutman
is Sixth & I's Director of Community Engagement and leads our monthly 6th in the City Shabbat.
David Goldstein regularly contributes his voice to 6th Street Minyan.
6th in the City Rosh Hashanah Retreat
Led by Rabbi Shira Stutman
LOCATION: Meet at Sixth & I
Celebrate the second day of the New Year at Sugarloaf Mountain with hiking, singing, services,
and a picnic. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and shoes. A kosher lunch will
be provided. If you have dietary restrictions, email Allison.
Traditional Service
Led by Rabbi Avis Miller and Cantor Larry Paul
LOCATION: Sixth & I
Spiritual and egalitarian service integrating song and story. This service uses Mahzor Hadash, a
prayer book compiled and edited by Rabbi Sidney Greenberg and Rabbi Jonathan D. Levine.
Rabbi Avis Miller is President of the Open Dor Foundation and Rabbi Emerita of Adas Israel
Congregation. Cantor Larry Paul leads our monthly Downtown Shabbat service.

LOCATION: Sixth & I
Traditional learner’s service with inspiring commentary and stories for young professionals.
Separate seating for women and men. This service uses The Complete Transliterated Artscroll
Machzor. Rabbi Zvi Teitelbaum and team lead MesorahDC Shabbat and Café Nite.
Preschool Service
Led by song leader Lisa Baydush
LOCATION: Calvary Baptist Church • 755 8th Street, NW
Interactive service filled with music, energy, and fun for families with children ages 5 and
under. Lisa Baydush is the early childhood music specialist at the Jewish Community Center in
Rockville, MD, and teaches religious school music at Temple Shalom and Bethesda Jewish
Congregation.
Kids Yom Kippur Service
Led by song leader Josh Sauer
LOCATION: Calvary Baptist Church • 755 8th Street, NW
A participatory and musical service focusing on Jewish ethics and values for kids ages 6 – 11.
Open Space
LOCATION: Sixth & I
A place for contemplation and reflection throughout Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
Relax - 2nd Floor
Read, rest, and rejuvenate. Comfortable seating and reading materials will be available.
Reflect - 4th Floor (Yom Kippur only)
Meditation sessions led by Jared Gottlieb welcome all levels of experience.
2:30 pm – Peaceful Mind Meditation
Reach greater depths of reflection and forgiveness with this deep relaxation exercise.
4:30 pm – Closing Meditation
Honor your day of reflection by entering the New Year with an open and conscious mind.

2:30 pm – A Building Close-Up: Explore the History of Sixth & I
Talk and Q&A led by Shelton Zuckerman, Sixth & I Co-Founder and President, Board of Directors
3:30 pm – Walking Tour: Downtown Jewish Washington
Learn what it was like to live and worship as a Jew in Washington from 1850 to 1950 in the historic
Seventh Street, NW, neighborhood, originally settled largely by German Jews and later home to DC’s
Chinatown. Tour led by Elissa Frankle, a Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington volunteer. This
tour is limited to 25 people on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please meet in the sanctuary lobby (600 I
Street, NW).
