Sacred Stories: Mothers and Daughters on Family Secrets, Ritual, and Redemption

A book discussion for women in their 20s and 30s

In an illuminating story that explores the bonds between mothers and daughters, yearning and forgiveness, and the power of sacred Jewish ritual, award-winning fiction writer Michelle Brafman shares an inspiring tale of three generations of women faced with confronting their family’s secrets in her debut novel, Washing The Dead.

Brafman’s work has appeared in The Washington Post, the minnesota review, Tablet, Lilith Magazine, and Slate. Her short ebook, We Named Them All, was published by Shebooks in 2014. Brafman teaches fiction writing at the Johns Hopkins University MA in Writing Program.

As a book club-style event, the discussion will be led by the Brafman herself, along with Lilith Magazine’s Editor in Chief Susan Weidman Schneider.

For women in their 20s and 30s. And for the record, we love all bubbes everywhere.
