SUMMARY:DIY: Design It Yourself
DESCRIPTION:Design your own Passover Haggadah and craft your own tallit; deepen your knowledge of Jewish spirituality and refresh your sense of meaning in Jewish life. \nOur newest fellowship will give a whole new focus and frame to your Jewish year\, as you bring Judaism to life with your own two hands. Artists and experts will be on hand to guide you through the process of creating beautiful\, meaningful\, and unique artifacts of enduring worth that connect you more deeply to your Jewish identity. \nBeyond simply making objects\, DIY takes it one step further and helps you explore your connection to Jewish spirituality in a collaborative\, warm learning environment. Working with Rabbi Scott and other teachers\, you’ll study Jewish texts and teachings (e.g. the Four Children from the Passover Seder\, the meaning of some High Holiday prayers)\, and will be encouraged to reflect on that learning through whatever artistic outlet you choose\, whether the written word\, music\, drawing\, painting\, or one that you bring to the table yourself. \nPrevious experience with crafting and Torah study helps\, but you don’t have to be scholar or Martha Stewart to join. You’ll have teachers and guidance all the way through. \nThe fellowship begins in late March (Passover sessions are March 29\, April 5 and 12) and ends with a day-long retreat in early December (after Chanukah). Fellows will attend three to four sessions around each Jewish Holiday. \nApplications for the fellowship are currently being accepted. Please click here to be directed to a short questionnaire\, which will be followed by an interview with Rabbi Scott. \nPlease contact our Community Engagement Associate\, Marissa\, for more information. \nThis fellowship was made possible by funds granted by The Covenant Foundation. The statements made and the views expressed\, however\, are solely the responsibility of the authors.
