SUMMARY:A River Wild: Young Adults Fighting the Upstream Battle Against Cancer
DESCRIPTION:Despite popular opinion\, young adults can and do get cancer. Those affected by cancer in their teens\, twenties\, and thirties are an often overlooked and orphaned generation who need support and community to live meaningfully through their battle with and survivorship from the disease.  \n The short film\, A River Wild\, tells the story of four young adults battling cancer who spent seven days kayaking the Colorado in order to prove that cancer\, no matter how aggressive\, dormant\, or advanced\, would never be stronger than they were. Join us in support of the young adult cancer awareness movement.  \n Following the film\, special guests\, Brad Ludden (Founder\, First Descents)\, Jack Bouffard (Founder\, i[2]y)\, and Tamika Felder (Founder\, Tamika & Friends)\, will discuss and answer questions about the film and movement.  \n About the organizations:\n First Descents is committed to curing young adults of the emotional effects of cancer and empowering them through adventure sports in a supportive environment.\n i[2]y\, the I’m Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation\, is the nation’s leading grassroots advocate for the next generation of cancer survivors and their caregivers in their late teens\, 20s\, and 30s.\n Tamika & Friends\, founded by cervical cancer survivor Tamika Felder\, raises awareness about cervical cancer and its link to HPV.
