DESCRIPTION:Listen to Darren Hayes \nAs the lead singer and songwriter of duo Savage Garden\, and as a solo recording artist in his own right\, Darren Hayes has held a career spanning over two decades. On Homosexual\, Hayes’ first solo album in over ten years\, he explores coming to terms with his sexuality in his 20s\, internalized homophobia and the pressures by the music industry to conform\, and his journey to becoming his most authentic self. \nReleased on his own label\, Powdered Sugar Productions\, Hayes composed\, produced\, performed\, and arranged everything on the album. While it examines heavy themes including childhood trauma and struggles with depression\, the album’s dance-ready tracks filter his memories through the lens of joy and self-acceptance he experiences today. \nSince 1996\, Hayes has released six albums: two Savage Garden records and four solo offerings. He has toured the world many times and performed at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games closing ceremonies. He has sold over 27 million albums globally\, producing two Billboard number one singles with Savage Garden. The ballad “Truly Madly Deeply” is the longest-running adult contemporary hit in the chart’s history. \nAt all in-person events April 17 – 29\, we’re collecting clothing for groups providing support to migrants arriving in DC.
