SUMMARY:Guy Raz
DESCRIPTION:From the creator and host of the podcasts “How I Built This\,” “Wisdom from the Top\,” and “The Rewind\,” comes How I Built This: The Unexpected Paths to Success from the World’s Most Inspiring Entrepreneurs. Based on his acclaimed NPR podcast of the same name\, the book offers insights and inspiration from the world’s top entrepreneurs on how to start\, launch\, and build a successful venture. More than a business book\, How I Built This is about human beings: their dreams\, fears\, hopes\, failures\, vulnerabilities\, and personal journeys. \nGreat ideas often come from a simple spark: A soccer player on the New Zealand national team notices the unused wool his country produces\, figures out a way to turn them into shoes\, and the result is Allbirds. A former Buddhist monk decides the best way to spread mindfulness teachings is by launching an app\, and the result is Headspace. \nRaz talks to hundreds of the world’s greatest entrepreneurs\, idealists\, tinkerers\, and inventors to share tips for formulating your idea\, raising money and recruiting employees\, fending off competitors\, and eventually paying yourself a salary. \nRaz is also the co-creator of the “TED Radio Hour” podcast and the children’s programs “Wow in the World” and “Two Whats?! and a Wow!” He’s received the Edward R. Murrow Award and the Daniel Schorr Journalism Prize\, among many other awards\, and was a Nieman journalism fellow at Harvard. In conversation with Sam Sanders\, a correspondent and host of It’s Been a Minute with Sam Sanders at NPR. \nFunding has been provided to Sixth & I from HumanitiesDC and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as part of the 2020 Coronavirus Aid\, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act of 2020.
