SUMMARY:Hebrew Literacy
DESCRIPTION:This class meets Tuesdays\, September 19 through December 12 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Class will meet in-person on September 19 and December 12\, the rest of the class will be virtual. \nDemystify the Hebrew alphabet as you learn the letters and vowels and how to combine them to “crack the code.” This course introduces reading Hebrew in an enjoyable yet focused atmosphere. Emphasis is placed on reading from a prayer book and words from Jewish cultural life. This course\, taught by certified language instructor Keren Yairi\, is for those with little to no prior Hebrew reading ability. \nDue to the cumulative nature of literacy learning\, students should plan to attend class regularly and spend 20 minutes daily on home practice. Participants will be responsible for purchasing the textbook on their own. \nAbout the Instructor\nKeren Yairi is a certified language instructor who has taught Hebrew as well as English literacy and English as Second/Other Language.  She has also served as a consultant on education\, language\, and literacy projects.
