SUMMARY:On Judgmentalism
DESCRIPTION:As a workshop in preparation for her High Holiday sermon\, Rabbi Shira explores the duality of judgment. We often view judgmentalism\, or being judgmental\, as a negative quality\, however\, it is something we all practice—whether we intend to or not. \nIf the basic goal of the High Holy Days is for God to judge us\, can we always cast judgmentalism as something bad? And\, if judgmentalism is ever warranted\, who does it necessarily hurt? \nEach participant is required to bring a text on judgmentalism; the text does not have to be related to Judaism. Texts discussed in the workshop will serve as a springboard for the themes explored in Rabbi Shira’s High Holiday sermon. \nStatue image via shutterstock.com
