DESCRIPTION:The Kennedy Center Chamber Players is formed of principal and guest players of the National Symphony Orchestra performing an exciting repertoire to include: \nMozart: Variations on “Ah vous dirai-je\, Maman”\nRavel: Sonata for Violin and Cello\nMartinů: Madrigals for Violin and Viola\nBeethoven: String Trio Op. 9\, No. 2 in D major \nThe Kennedy Center Chamber Players:\n \nEric deWaardt (viola)\, became a member of the NSO in 1986. His chamber music highlights include performances with the Twentieth Century Consort\, Washington Chamber Music Society\, the Camerata Players\, the Manchester String Quartet\, and the Prelude concerts on the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage. deWaardt has performed as soloist with the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra in performances of Benjamin Britten’s “Lachrymae\,” with the Landon Symphonette\, and the American Youth Symphonic Orchestra. deWaardt was a founding member of the National Gallery String Quartet. \nMarissa Regni (violin) is Principal Second Violin of the NSO\, a position she assumed in 1996. Regni is a member of the critically acclaimed Manchester String Quartet and is a founding member of the Kennedy Center Chamber Players. Solo appearances with orchestras include the Saint Louis Symphony\, National Symphony Orchestra\, Virginia Chamber Orchestra\, Livingston (New Jersey) Symphony\, and the Ridgewood (New Jersey) Symphony. Regni has been a featured artist on NPR. \nDavid Hardy (cello)\, Principal Cello of the NSO\, achieved international recognition in 1982 as the top American prize winner at the seventh International Tchaikovsky Cello Competition in Moscow. In 1981\, he was appointed to the NSO as Associate Principal Cello. In 1994\, Hardy was named Principal Cello of the NSO. The NSO’s recording of John Corigliano’s Symphony No. 1\, featuring Hardy’s solo cello performance\, won the 1996 Grammy Award for Best Classical Album.
