DESCRIPTION:The number of childfree women in the U.S. almost doubled during the previous three decades. Women who choose to be childfree may not have to deal with dirty diapers and temper tantrums\, but they do have to contend with being cast as social pariahs: “selfish\,” “self-centered\,” “baby-haters.” Women unsure about having children—and those who want kids but disagree with their partner or parents about how many—also have to grapple with societal pressure and feelings of guilt. \n Michelle Cove\, Editor-in-Chief of 614: The HBI eZINE\, leads an interactive discussion about choosing motherhood\, or not\, and how Jewish culture (“be fruitful and multiply”) can influence the decision. \n Cove is the author of I Love Mondays: And other Confessions from Devoted Working Moms\, I’m Not Mad\, I just Hate You!: A New Understanding of Mother-Daughter Conflict\, and Seeking Happily Ever After: Navigating the Ups and Downs of Being Single Without Losing Your Mind.
