SUMMARY:Rejecting the Binary: A Nuanced Understanding of Israel/Palestine
DESCRIPTION:This class meets Wednesdays November 12\, 19\, and December 3 and 10 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Tickets are non-refundable.  \nThe last two years have been marked by profound loss\, fear\, and hardening divides. When it comes to engaging with Israel/Palestine\, many still feel hesitant\, overwhelmed\, or at a loss for words; others find themselves at painful odds with loved ones. With a fragile ceasefire in Gaza and the return of hostages\, we have a welcome moment to learn together about the conflict’s historical roots and possible long-term paths forward. \nThis series\, developed from the Tovanot: Rejecting the Binary\, Embracing Dual Narratives – a Nuanced Understanding of Israel Palestine program\, creates space to hold multiple truths\, deepen critical media literacy\, and practice values-driven dialogue. Dive deep into the most complex questions related to Israel/Palestine\, lean into discomfort\, feel more at home in your values\, adopt a more expansive view of the conflict\, and build confidence in expressing your positions\, especially in polarized environments. Using a dual-narrative approach to understanding the historical and political landscape in Israel-Palestine\, Tovanot rejects binary thinking\, instead encouraging a rigorous and sober exploration of Israeli and Palestinian history\, both peoples’ connection to the land\, and current political realities. \nTaking inspiration from long-standing shared society and coexistence initiatives in Israel and Palestine\, practice having courageous conversations and gain tools to hold nuance and multiple narratives of Israeli Jews\, Palestinian citizens of Israel\, and Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. \nNo one will be turned away from any of our classes due to lack of funds. For more information\, please contact our Jewish Life Associate\, Robyn.
