SUMMARY:What Matters to Millennial Jews
DESCRIPTION:When the Pew Research Center released its “Portrait of Jewish Americans” study in 2013\, it was the most comprehensive national survey of the Jewish population in over a decade. It sparked intense debate then\, and still today\, within the Jewish community about what it means to be Jewish and how Jews in the U.S. feel about a wide range of issues of Jewish importance. \nPew Research Center’s new 2020 survey of Jewish Americans is likely to spark robust and meaningful debate again\, with the results showing today’s Jews are more diverse\, politically polarized\, and increasingly concerned about anti-Semitism. During this event\, hear about the research findings specific to millennial Jews (ages 24-39) from Becka Alper\, a senior researcher\, and Alan Cooperman\, the director of religion research\, at Pew Research Center. Then\, Sixth & I’s Rabbi Aaron Potek will bring the research findings to life in a candid conversation with two fellow millennials about their lived experiences and how they relate to the findings on a range of topics surveyed. Rabbi Aaron will be joined by Emma Green\, a staff writer at The Atlantic covering politics\, policy\, and religion\, and Tiffany Harris\, the chief program officer at Moishe House\, a non-profit that supports people in their 20s and 30s as they create home-based Jewish experiences for themselves and their peers.
