SUMMARY:Deep Dive: Intensive Talmud Study
DESCRIPTION:This course meets on Wednesdays\, November 2\, 16\, and 30 and December 7 and 14 at 6:00 pm. \nWhen it comes to studying Talmud\, you can dip a toe into the water\, or you can dive into the deep end of this rich Jewish spiritual and ethical text. \nRabbi Scott guides students in classic\, partnered Talmud study. Participants will be expected to create havruta (traditional study partnerships) and to prepare and review sources with their havruta on the off weeks. \nStudy will be primarily in English\, but a ready knowledge of Hebrew letters and how to sound them out is helpful. Students should be prepared to learn to comprehend and translate basic Biblical verses. Prior experience with Talmud study is encouraged but not necessary.
