Led by Rabbi Avis Miller and Chazzan Larry Paul
LOCATION: Sixth & I
This multi-generational service is known for being spirited and spiritual, a place where people of all ages and stages feel welcome. Imagine being surrounded by song as we join our gifted and soulful chazzan and lift our voices to fill the dome at Sixth & I. Readings, drawn from sources as diverse as Talmudic tales and Hasidic stories, poetry, current news, and even an occasional humorous anecdote, introduce Hebrew prayers and Torah readings and offer opportunities for inspiration and reflection.
The prayerbook includes the traditional Hebrew liturgy, contemporary English translations, and supplementary readings. Rabbi Miller gives a sermon at every service, except Erev Rosh Hashanah. Participants read Torah and haftarah, sound the shofar, and participate in the creative martyrology on Yom Kippur afternoon before Yizkor.
