This is a five-week class that meets Wednesdays, June 24 – July 22 at 7:00 pm and includes a Shabbat dinner on Friday, July 17  at 6:30 pm.

Rabbi Elianna Yolkut leads experiential introduction to Judaism course designed for those looking to reconnect with Judaism, as well as non-Jews looking to discover. This five-week course allows students to develop a deeper connection with the Jewish faith through a digestible, experiential introduction to Jewish traditions, customs, and rituals.

The setting for each class will reflect the topics discussed; “Accessing Jewish Spirituality” will take place in the sanctuary to replicate an actual service, while “Embracing the Jewish Obsession with Food” will unfold in a kitchen and will culminate with a Shabbat dinner featuring challah the students make by hand. Instead of studying prayers, students will connect with mystical Jewish spirituality the way it was meant to be experience.

Basically Jewish goes beyond teaching and offer participants a chance to step into Jewish life and experience it on their own terms.

Rabbi Yolkut is a Rabbi Without Borders who strives through challenging questions, innovative study and meaningful connections to help Jews at all life stages reach toward a deep understanding of and connection to Judaism. Ordained in 2006 by the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at the American Jewish University in Los Angeles, she was later an adjunct faculty member there while serving as assistant rabbi at the Conservative synagogue Adat Ari El in nearby Valley Village.

For those in their 20s and 30s
