The sanctuary, social hall, and two multi-purpose rooms are available for rent. You may reserve multiple available spaces. Floor layouts are available here.
We can tentatively hold one date and one time-slot for two weeks without charge, but we cannot guarantee a date and time-slot without a rental deposit, which is half of the rental fee. Please use the Rental Inquiry Form to submit the details of your event.
There are two rental time-slots: daytime and evening. Daytime rentals must vacate the building by 2:00 pm, and evening rentals may not use the building until 4:00 pm. Other time slots may be available upon request.
Sixth & I’s sanctuary and other spaces are available for Jewish life-cycle events, including weddings (for interfaith marriages, one partner must be Jewish), LGBT commitment ceremonies and weddings, b’nai mitzvah, bris and naming ceremonies, memorial services, as well as non-profit and corporate meetings and other private rentals.
While we do require a Jewish officiant to be the lead clergy at life-cycle events, he/she does not have to be of a specific denomination. We do ask rabbis/Jewish officiants who are not local to submit a copy of their ordination certificate to Sixth & I: Email: [email protected]; Fax: 202.408.5124; Mail: 600 I St. NW, Washington, DC 20001.
Private event rental fees are based on the type of event and the space(s) used. Please fill out our rental inquiry form so we can provide you with more detailed pricing information.

No food or drink is allowed in the sanctuary. Any equipment brought into Sixth & I (e.g., flowers, a chuppah, a dance floor) must be taken out the same day unless other arrangements are made in advance. Additional charges will be assessed for equipment left behind. If you plan on dropping petals during a wedding, a runner is required. Soft candy-throwing is permitted at b’nai mitzvah celebrations. Also, please note that Sixth & I is wheelchair accessible.
