A User’s Guide to the Amidah
- This event has passed.
The Amidah, or standing, silent, meditative prayer, is the most intensely spiritual part of every prayer service. But what’s supposed to happen when we take three steps forward and begin? How can the Amidah help us open our hearts to internal reflection and outward devotion?
Rabbi Shira leads an exploration of this series of blessings, teaches some of the choreography, and delves into the language, structure, and history of what the ancient rabbis call “HaTefillah” (the prayer).
