Start off summer with award-winning cider and delicious grilled cheese! Unwind and celebrate the start of summer at a gourmet make-your-own grilled cheese bar followed by a guided cider tasting with Cider Historian, Michael Stein. This curated tasting features cider from Blue Bee Cider, Virginia’s first urban cidery. Become a cider expert and learn facts like:
- The earliest archaeological evidence of apples was found in the Jericho Valley in Jordan circa 6,500 BC
- There are about 7,500 varieties of apples currently grown worldwide
- Cider is wine made from apples
Michael Stein is President of Lost Lagers, a beverage research firm. He is columnist for the Washington City Paper and writes What’s in Stein’s Stein. He is also senior staff writer at dcbeer.com, Michael also runs Lost Lagers’ blog which focuses on cider and other historic beverages.
