What it Takes: Shabbat at Home
Session One: Why Shabbat?
- This event has passed.
It’s one of the Ten Commandments: Observe Shabbat. Why? What’s important about resting on the seventh day? And what are the do’s and don’ts of the Sabbath day? Study, read, and discuss with Rabbi Shira. At the end of class, learn “Shalom Aleichem,” the prayer that opens Friday night Shabbat at home. A new or gently used copy of A Day Apart: Shabbat at Home is included in the ticket price.
About this three-session series:
Over the course of three nights, this back-to-basics workshop will teach you everything you need to know to host a Friday-evening Shabbat dinner at home and usher Shabbat out with Havdallah on Saturday evening. Participants can choose to attend one, two, or all three sessions.
