This program runs from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

Spend an afternoon with Yael Shy, an acclaimed meditation teacher and author of an award-winning book about meditation and Sarah Hurwitz, a former White House speechwriter who had a transformational experience on a meditation retreat and then wrote a book about Judaism. You’ll learn meditation basics as well as techniques to deepen an existing practice, receive powerful teachings rooted in 4,000 years of Jewish spiritual wisdom, and participate in periods of meditation to help you relax your body and mind and connect more deeply to yourself, all from your own home via Zoom. Whether you’re exhausted and frazzled, or just feeling a bit uninspired or disconnected; whether you’re a total beginner, or you already have a regular meditation practice but want something a little deeper, this retreat is for you.

Sarah Hurwitz served as a White House speechwriter from 2009 to 2017, first as a senior speechwriter for President Barack Obama and then as head speechwriter for First Lady Michelle Obama. Prior to serving in the Obama Administration, Sarah was chief speechwriter for Hillary Clinton on her 2008 presidential campaign. She is the author of the book Here All Along: Finding Meaning, Spirituality, and a Deeper Connection to Life – in Judaism (After Finally Choosing to Look There).

Yael Shy is the CEO of Mindfulness Consulting where she provides meditation and mindfulness coaching, consulting and teaching to companies, universities, and individuals around the globe. She is the author of the award-winning book, What Now? Meditation for Your Twenties and Beyond  and the founder and former senior director of Mindful NYU, the largest campus-based mindfulness initiative in the country.
