Better Nature: A Tu B’Shvat Seder and Dinner

Jan 24, 2024 • 6:30 pm ET
  • This event has passed.

This event is 21+.

Celebrate the New Year of the Trees with a Tu B’Shvat seder, a ritual that began with the Kabbalists of the 16th century. At our seder led by Rabbi Nora, you’ll dive into nature-inspired texts to discover connections between environmentalism and Judaism and explore the symbolism behind the fruit, nuts, and four cups of wine we enjoy on this holiday. You’ll also get to hear from Casey Trees, Dayenu, and Jews United for Justice about how you can get involved in local climate and environmental justice movements. Dinner and fruitful conversation to follow.

The menu includes:

To start
Avocado and tahini dip (vegan)
Eggplant and labneh dip with pomegranate syrup, served with pita chips and veggies (vegan, GF)

Dinner
Mediterranean vegetable and feta quiche (vegetarian)
Warm salad of cauliflower, dates and olives with arugula and smoked paprika (vegan, GF)
Georgian kidney beans and walnut stew (lobio nigvzit) with cilantro (vegan, GF)
Pistachio and sour cherry rice with crispy onion (vegan)

Dessert
Date cake with caramel sauce (vegetarian)
