Introduction to Reading Hebrew
- This event has passed.
This class meets Tuesdays, July 7 – September 1 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.
In this course, Keren Yairi introduces reading Hebrew through engaging and participatory activities in an enjoyable yet focused atmosphere. Demystify the Hebrew alphabet as you learn the letters and vowels and how to combine them to “crack the code.” Emphasis is placed on reading the prayer book and other Jewish liturgy. Intended for those with little to no prior Hebrew reading ability. For the benefit of all participants, attendance is expected at all class sessions, as is 20 minutes of daily home practice.
Keren Yairi is a certified language instructor; in addition to Hebrew, she teaches reading and English as a Second/Other Language in the DC schools and has been an international development consultant for education and literacy projects.
