Venue:
Sixth & I
Racial Justice Reading Group
- This event has passed.
This group meets on Thursdays, June 25 and July 2 and 9 at 7:00 pm EST.
The murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arberry, Breonna Taylor and too many others once again lay bare the fact that racism in our country is systemic and endemic, and eradicating it will necessitate profound legislative and cultural change. But how? In order for us to effect true change, we need to know our history. Join Rabbi Shira for a book group to read and discuss The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander.
This group is for people who (a) consider themselves part of the Sixth & I spiritual community (b) can commit to read 100 pages of the book per week and attend, by video, all three weeks of the book group and (c) have not read the book before. In order to create an intimate setting, the class is capped at 25 people. Participants are responsible for purchasing the book independently.
No one will be turned away from any of our classes due to lack of funds. For more information, please contact Leila.
