Shabbat: Break Away

Second Friday

6:00 pm – Happy Hour
7:00 pm – Service
8:15 pm – Dinner

Shabbat presents an alternate reality where, removed from distractions, we make space for meaning and deeper connections with others.

This interactive service led by Rabbi Aaron and musician Aaron Shneyer is lighter on prayer and has a less structured and more casual vibe than a traditional service. Resonant teachings, the rabbi’s thought-provoking sermon, and uplifting music combine to offer an unexpected lens for reflection. This one-hour service is a good fit for those new to Shabbat or looking for an unexpected way to wind down from the past week.

The night is pretty social, with appetizers and drinks before the 7:00 pm service, and a home-cooked, seriously delicious dinner after.

The menu includes:

To start
Hummus with tahini tatbila (pickled hot pepper dressing) served with veggies and chips (vegan, GF, *contains sesame)
Stuffed grape leaves (vegan)

Dinner
Grilled beef patties in tahini sauce topped with tomato salsa (vegan and GF options available)
Cauliflower green tabbouleh herbs with cranberries (vegan, GF)
Rice with lentils and caramelized onion (vegan, GF)
Roasted baby potato in za’atar olives, cherry tomato (vegan, GF, contains sesame)

Dessert
Baklava, Turkish delight, and halva tray (vegetarian and vegan)

The dinner provided will be kosher. With any dietary needs, please contact Kira at least 5 days in advance.
