The TEN: An Alternative Shavuot Experience

Take to the streets of DC for our innovative take on the holiday of Shavuot, traditionally celebrated by all-night Torah study. Dive deep into stories from Jewish tradition and local history to uncover the best of humanity. Enjoy cheesecake, work on a social justice project to support the local homeless community, take a midnight ride through the city with DC Jews on Bikes, and greet the dawn with yoga on the National Mall.

Schedule

9:00 pm – Kickoff, coffee, and candlelighting
9:30 pm – And Then Everything Changed: When Did Joseph Become a Leader?
10:30 pm – Theology and Social Justice: The Life of Abraham Joshua Heschel; Jewish Weddings (for the Jewish Welcome Workshop and all interested)
11:15 pm – Unpacking Anti-Semitism on the Left; Batmensch!: Jewish Lessons in Being the Leader You Need and Deserve
Midnight – Monumental bike ride with DC Jews on Bikes
1:45 am – Don’t Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out: Rabbis Excommunicating Each Other; Israeli Dance; Contemporary Judaism (for the Jewish Welcome Workshop and all those interested)
3:00 am – Re-reading the Book of Ruth; making essentials kits for our homeless neighbors
4:15 am – Sunrise yoga and prayer on the National Mall with light breakfast
