Due to unforeseen circumstances, this program has been canceled.
Experience the Women’s Voices Theater Festival, which highlights the scope of plays being written by women, with a night out at the Shakespeare Theatre Company to see the world premiere adaptation of Salomé by award-winning Israeli director and playwright Yaël Farber.
Salomé investigates the silenced women of history and the power of women—then and now—over their own bodies. Farber draws on ancient biblical and pagan texts, evocative sound and physicality, and Oscar Wilde’s mystery play to shape this production. The production engages deeply with life in Jerusalem during the Second Temple period. It utilizes text from the Old Testament that is notable for its beauty. Hebrew is spoken onstage. There are Israeli cast members alongside American Jews and other members of the international cast.
Before the play begins, get a behind-the-scenes look into the storyline of the show in an intimate salon-style discussion for our group with a member of the Shakespeare Theatre Company team.
