DC’s large population of unaffiliated and under-affiliated young professional Jews comes to this notoriously transient city often lacking community ties. Post-college but pre-parenthood, this demographic is establishing their careers and identities. During this transitional time, Sixth & I offers a space for young Jews to connect—to Judaism, arts and culture, spirituality, tradition, and to each other—on their own terms and at their own pace.

Designed for young professional Jews in their 20s and 30s, 6th in the City programming encompasses cultural, religious, and social opportunities including these regular offerings:

Shabbat Services

Sixth & I holds a number of different Shabbat services for young professionals. All of our services share the same goal: to bring people together in prayerful, spiritually uplifting, community-building Shabbat experiences. For more information on Shabbat services, click here.

Not Your Bubbe’s Sisterhood (NYBS)

Not Your Bubbe’s Sisterhood, an updated and edgy version of the traditional synagogue sisterhood, invites women in their 20s and 30s to explore the intersection between contemporary interests and Jewish culture through monthly events with career-driven, culinary, spiritual, feminist, socially conscious, or crafty themes.

Men’s Room

This series offers a laid-back forum for men in their 20s and 30s to network and speak about issues of masculinity and spirituality in the context of contemporary life.
