How do we learn to lead from the inside out? Renowned religious scholar, educator, and prominent Jewish community leader, Dr. Erica Brown offers a roadmap to answering that question in Take Your Soul to Work: 365 Meditations on Every Day Leadership, a collection of practical, inspired, and digestible daily meditations exploring the intersection of spirituality and leadership.
Hardly anyone has time to reflect on personal values between the meetings, calls, and emails that eat away at the work day; yet almost everyone needs to lead colleagues to decisions and actions. These 365 simple meditations will help corporate titans, middle managers, and entrepreneurial visionaries take a moment to focus on one inspirational thought each day for an entire year.
Each entry focuses on a different quality, emotion, or aspiration, including discipline, compassion, impermanence, callousness, and productive narcissism, by presenting a relevant quote, story, or question inspired by the traditions of all faiths as well as artists, poets, and business thinkers. Brown argues that good leadership isn’t the result of a quarterly check-in or a few hours at an annual conference; rather, it’s a habit we cultivate over time, a spiritual capacity we build daily.
Dr. Brown consults for the Jewish Agency and other Jewish non-profits and currently serves as the community scholar for The Jewish Center in Manhattan. She is the author of ten books and the recipient of numerous awards for her work and scholarship. Book signing to follow.
