An Evening with Kristin Hannah
To mark the paperback release of the #1 New York Times bestseller, The Women, author Kristin Hannah shares more about this intimate portrait of a woman coming of age in a dangerous time and an epic tale of a nation divided by war and politics, as well as her other celebrated works, including The Nightingale, The Great Alone, and The Four Winds.
A former lawyer turned writer, Hannah is the author of more than twenty novels. Hear about her writing process, inspirations, and what’s it’s like to see her writing go from page to screen. The Nightingale is being adapted into a film, with Dakota and Elle Fanning set to star, and Firefly Lane was adapted into a hit Netflix series.
The Women is set in a turbulent and transformative era in America: the 1960s. When the brother of 20-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path. Overwhelmed by the chaos and destruction of war, the real battle lies in coming home to a changed and divided America. The Women is the story of one woman gone to war, but it shines a light on all women who put themselves in harm’s way and whose sacrifice and commitment to their country has too often been forgotten.
