Sixth & I – Downstairs
Hey Marseilles with The Apache Relay
- This event has passed.
Hey Marseilles present their own brand of folk-pop, utilizing trumpet, viola, cello, accordion, and other classical instruments within a standard rock setup. The six-piece self-described “folkestral” band aim to “replicate the dynamics of their record in the live setting,” according to lead vocalist/guitarist Matt Bishop, emulating an orchestra in a way that many other bands cannot. Hey Marseilles released their second full-length album, Lines We Trace, this past March to critical acclaim.
The Apache Relay’s collection of modern roots-rock tracks encompasses an eclectic range of influences; a tinge of Bad Brains, some Suzuki training, jazz lessons, a lot of Beatles’ listening, a knowledge of traditional mountain music, a worship of Phil Spector and the love for the complex but accessible layers of bands like Arcade Fire. This Nashville foursome self-described their genre as “indie roots” with the blend of folk instruments and modern tools giving the group a style all their own.
This event will take place in our Downstairs venue. Limited seating is available. For those that require seating, please call in advance.
