While elsewhere in the Bible, it is God who speaks to us, in the Psalms, people speak to God. Most of the 150 Psalms are autobiographical episodes reflecting different moods, including moral failure, adversity, and skepticism but also the redemptive experience of those who overcame problems with the help of God.

Joshua O. Haberman escaped from Nazi occupied Vienna, received rabbinic ordination, and earned a doctorate in modern Jewish philosophy at the Hebrew Union College. In 1969, he was elected Sr. Rabbi at the Washington Hebrew Congregation. He preached at the White House and co-officiated the 9/11 Memorial Service at the National Cathedral. He is the Founding chairman of the Foundation for Jewish Studies and author of 3 books including his newly re-published book Healing Psalms: The Dialogues with God that Help You Cope with Life.

The book will be available for sale at the book-signing and reception following his lecture.

This program is presented by the Ammerman family in honor of the ninety-ninth birthday of Josephine Ammerman.
