Here’s an event to prove that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. On the occasion of the paperback release of Elaine Showalter’s tenth book, A Jury of Her Peers: Celebrating American Women Writers from Anne Bradstreet to Annie Proulx, the three very different writers in the Showalter family will get together to talk about how they became writers and how being part of this family influenced their work.

Mom Elaine Showalter is professor emeritus of English at Princeton University, and a journalist who has written for People, Vogue, The Guardian, and The Washington Post.
Daughter Vinca Showalter LaFleur is a former speechwriter for President Clinton, a partner in the Washington firm West Wing Writers, and an international speechwriter and ghostwriter.
Son Michael Showalter is a comedian, screenwriter, and comedy writer, whose series Michael and Michael Have Issues just finished its first season on Comedy Central. This will be Michael’s fourth appearance at Sixth & I, but the first anywhere with his mother.
