In her new book, No Walls and the Recurring Dream, singer-songwriter and social activist Ani DiFranco combines personal expression, the power of music, feminism, political activism, storytelling, philanthropy, and entrepreneurship to bring readers an honest, inspiring memoir.
In these frank, passionate, and often funny pages is one woman’s eventful and radical coming-of-age story defined by her fierce independence—from being an emancipated minor sleeping in a bus station, to releasing her first album at the age of 18, to consciously rejecting the mainstream recording industry and creating her own label. DiFranco is living proof that you can overcome all personal and societal obstacles to be who you are and follow your dreams. In conversation with Lauren Onkey, the Senior Director of NPR Music.
