Epic Jammers and Fortunate Little Ditties, the new lo-fi album from Bonnie “Prince” Billy and The Bitchin’ Bajas, contains moments of tranquility and trance, with the players integrating their separate ways, vibing off each other and making songs together. Bonnie is at his spirit-melting celestial best wandering through a lifetime of fortunes, and the Bajas’ access to the universal aural paintbox is unparalleled. And it all went down onto a 2-track reel-to-reel that helped define their ability to finish it in mixing.

The first collaboration between Bonnie “Prince” Billy (aka Will Oldham) and The Bitchin’ Bajas was a Record Store Day one-off release, a tribute to Shirley Collins in the folk song “Pretty Saro.” Soon after, Billy, as a noted fan of his label-mates, invited The Bitchin’ Bajas to his house to record Epic Jammers and Fortunate Little Ditties in only one day.
