Cécile McLorin Salvant – Early Show
- This event has passed.
She’s back! On the heels of packed-house Washington Performing Arts performances in the past two seasons, Cécile McLorin Salvant returns for two shows. Singing in English, French, and Spanish, Salvant enchants her audiences with fresh and dramatic interpretations of standards and lesser-known gems from the early days of jazz and blues. As the New York Times described her captivating presence in concert: “She sings clearly, with her full pitch range, from a pronounced low end to full and distinct high notes…. Her face conveys meaning, representing sorrow or serenity like a silent-movie actor.”
“Ms. McLorin Salvant has it all. If anyone can extend the lineage of the Big Three—Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, and Ella Fitzgerald—it is her.” – The New York Times
Washington Performing Arts performances at Sixth & I are made possible by the Abramson Family Foundation.
