Cécile McLorin Salvant – Late Show
- This event has passed.
She’s back! On the heels of packed-house Washington Performing Arts performances in the past two seasons, Cécile McLorin Salvant returns for two shows in the intimate setting of Sixth & I. Singing in English, French, and Spanish, Salvant enchants her audiences with fresh and dramatic interpretations of standards and lesser-known gems from the early days of jazz and blues. As the New York Times described her captivating presence in concert: “She sings clearly, with her full pitch range, from a pronounced low end to full and distinct high notes…. Her face conveys meaning, representing sorrow or serenity like a silent-movie actor.”
“Ms. McLorin Salvant has it all. If anyone can extend the lineage of the Big Three—Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, and Ella Fitzgerald—it is her.” – The New York Times
Washington Performing Arts performances at Sixth & I are made possible by the Abramson Family Foundation.
