Daniel Smith
- This event has passed.
More than 40 million American adults suffer from anxiety (almost double the percentage that suffer from depression and bipolar disorder combined), yet there has never been a memoir about it. In Monkey Mind, Daniel Smith weaves the history of anxiety, from homesickness and stage fright to panic attacks and nervous breakdowns, into a narrative that turns his life inside out and ends on a high note.
Smith gives an unabashed account of his 16-year struggle with the disease (also as a Jew), beginning with his first severe anxiety episode, to his job as a fact-checker at The Atlantic (which sent him to the men’s room every 30 minutes to staunch his sweat), and ending with his struggle to win back the love of his life and recover from “monkey mind.” Book signing to follow.
