David Mayfield grew up playing bass and touring with his family’s bluegrass band. As a teen he collected national awards for his dexterity on guitar and mandolin. His knack for colorful performances was evident as a backing player for his sister, musician Jessica Lea Mayfield. From the start, he oozed personality on stage – a trait that makes him a natural front-man today.
Mayfield joined the bluegrass outfit Cadillac Sky, playing sold-out shows with British folk revivalists Mumford and Sons. He also began writing songs inspired by artists like Randy Newman and Simon & Garfunkel. Encouraged by his sister and his friend Seth Avett, Mayfield decided to record his original material. The strength of his songwriting and musicianship, combined with his charm and personality, keep audiences consistently lining up to join the parade.
Growing up in the coffee houses of the Boston folk scene, Sean McConnell watched his parents playing songs written by Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, James Taylor and others of the like.
Now, an artist in his own right, Sean travels the states performing his own style of music that he describes as “lyric-driven roots rock with soul.” At his performances, one moment brings reckless rock, and the next an intimate acoustic pin drop.
These days, Sean finds a lot of his time spent touring Texas where he has truly been adopted into the “Red Dirt” scene. He is a former winner of the “Emerging Artist” award from Lone Star Music Awards.
