Edgar Meyer & Christian McBride
- This event has passed.
The term “double bass” takes on new meaning as two of the greatest living practitioners of the instrument—jazz master Christian McBride and classical/folk/bluegrass Renaissance man Edgar Meyer—join forces for a thrilling exploration of the deep space beyond genre and expectation. The New Yorker has hailed MacArthur “Genius Award” recipient Meyer as “the most remarkable virtuoso in the relatively unchronicled history of his instrument,” and the New York Times wrote of four-time Grammy-winner and NPR Jazz Night in America host McBride, “The deep, dark-maple tone that Christian McBride elicits from an upright bass is one of jazz’s forthright pleasures.”
Washington Performing Arts performances at Sixth & I are made possible by the Abramson Family Foundation.
