Fantastic Negrito

- This event has passed.
Fantastic Negrito is the story of a man who struggled to make it, who got it, and who lost it all. After landing a million dollar record deal, the black roots artist was involved in a near-fatal car accident that ruined his playing hand and almost ended his career.
Following a hard-fought battle to rediscover his sound, Negrito experienced a creative rebirth and went on to become the winner of the inaugural NPR Tiny Desk Contest. Two years later, he received a GRAMMY for his debut full-length album, The Last Days of Oakland, described by NPR as being “among the rawest pieces of music—sonically and emotionally—you’ll hear all year.” His second album Please Don’t Be Dead honors the pioneers of black roots music, while exploring the societal ills of today.
When you listen to Negrito, you’re invited to hear the story of life after destruction. For anyone who ever felt like it was over but hoped it wasn’t, this is your music.
