Gloria Steinem
In Conversation with Congresswoman Maxine Waters
- This event has passed.
In her first book in over twenty years, Steinem—writer, activist, and organizer—offers a candid account of how her early years led her to an on-the-road kind of life, traveling, listening to people, learning, and creating change.
In My Life on the Road, Steinem writes about some of the extraordinary people, famous and not, from whom she has learned along the way. Steinem also reflects on how the most transformative ideas sometimes come from unexpected people and encounters. Living in an on-the-road state of mind can promote change in the future, and can help us better understand others, our times, and ourselves.
In 1968, Steinem helped to found New York magazine and, in 1972, she co-founded Ms. Magazine. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama in 2013. In conversation with Congresswoman Maxine Waters. Book signing to follow.
