You know Kevin Nealon as a comedian, actor, “Saturday Night Live” alumnus, and Doug Wilson on Showtime’s “Weeds,” but did you know he also happens to be a talented caricature artist? From sketching SNL cast members or guest hosts in script margins to, in recent years, painting famous friends and idols on a digital tablet, he exaggerates his subjects’ characteristics with his distinct style of humor.

In I Exaggerate: My Brushes with Fame, Nealon shares original full-color caricatures and funny, endearing personal essays about his famous friends. Alongside his portraits and doodles, Nealon takes readers through his memories including being on the SNL set with Chris Farley and Dana Carvey, his idolization of James Taylor, the eulogy he gave at his dear friend Garry Shandling’s funeral, and much more.

With subjects including Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Anthony Bourdain, Whitney Houston, Robin Williams, and Lady Gaga, I Exaggerate is a charming and visually nostalgic stroll through the artwork and recollections of a comedy all-star.

Kevin Nealon will be in conversation with Stephen Thompson, a host, writer, and reviewer for NPR Music and a co-host of the NPR podcast “Pop Culture Happy Hour.”
