All New York Times journalists have lists of people they would love to interview, but there is only one most wish to be interviewed by, their colleague Michael Barbaro, whose podcast “The Daily” has been riveting millions of listeners for over a year with his lilting takes on the big news events of the day.

Through interviews largely with his colleagues—who he has grabbed telephonically from war zones, hotel rooms, an old school phone booth in the Senate press gallery and the backroom of Kinkos, among other locations—Barbaro, a former political reporter for The New York Times, helps unravel complicated news subjects in 20 minute digestible bites. Since “The Daily” first aired on February 1, 2017, the show has been downloaded more than 200 million times all over the world.
