Michael Solomonov and Steven Cook
In Conversation with Jake Tapper
In the sixteen years since opening Zahav, the James Beard award-winning Philadelphia restaurant inspired by modern Israeli cuisine, co-owners Chef Michael Solomonov and Steven Cook have learned cooking at home isn’t anything like cooking at the restaurant.
In Zahav Home, they bring Zahav’s signature ideas to the home kitchen with 125 recipes for achievable meals ranging from robust salads and abundant vegetables to hearty soups and easy lunches. Recipes include tehina Caesar salad with gutsy croutons, twice-baked sweet potatoes with labneh, sheet pan kebabs, sesame chicken with matbucha, date-glazed salmon fillets, pistachio sticky buns, and more. Full of flavor, Zahav Home is worth its weight in gold (the meaning of Zahav!).
Solomonov and Cook are co-owners of the hospitality group, CookNSolo Restaurants, which includes Dizengoff, Goldie, K’Far, and Laser Wolf. Together they’ve been awarded three James Beard Awards, with Solomonov awarded two additional for his work as chef of Zahav. The duo have co-authored the acclaimed cookbooks Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking, Federal Donuts: The (Partially) True Spectacular Story, and Israeli Soul: Easy, Essential, Delicious. Solomonov and Cook will be in conversation with Jake Tapper, CNN anchor and chief Washington correspondent.
