Observe National Refugee Shabbat at this inclusive service led by Rabbi Nora blending contemporary and traditional elements. Hear from Amy Hoang Wrona, the Development Director and Artistic Director of the Storytelling Program for Homes Not Borders, an organization providing refugees and other forced migrants in the DC area with what they need to thrive and feel at home in the United States. She’ll speak about their work, the current refugee admissions crisis, and how you can help.
Stay after for a seasonal meal prepared by chefs at Emma’s Torch, a social enterprise that empowers refugees through culinary education and job readiness training.

To start
Kunik bloomy rind cheese with baguette, cherry mustard, and spiced nuts (vegetarian)
Kale salad with roasted winter squash, dried cherries, red onion, spiced nuts, and maple vinaigrette (vegan, GF)
Dinner
Pan-seared fish with Hoppinʼ John, green onions & sauce piquant (GF)
Butternut squash pasta with red onion, sage, and pumpkin seed gremolata (vegan)
Dessert
Knafeh (shredded filo dough) layered with cheese and topped with orange syrup (vegetarian; GF and vegan dessert available by request)
The meal provided will be kosher-style pescatarian buffet with gluten-free and vegan offerings. We may not be able to accommodate additional dietary restrictions or allergies.
