Safer Spaces: Responding to Gun Violence
In the United States this year, there have been more mass shootings than days, and the recent shooting in Lewiston, Maine was one of the deadliest in decades. Locally, over the last five years, Washington, DC has experienced a 40% jump in reported violent crimes involving a gun, and our city has already surpassed 200 homicides this year alone.
Hear from leading voices about the epidemic of gun violence in our country and city and what can be done to prevent it through legislation, policy, and community-building. Panelists include Kris Brown, President at Brady, DC Councilmember Robert White, and Pastor Delonte Gholston, Senior Pastor of Peace Fellowship Church and a member of the leadership team of Washington Interfaith Network’s public safety committee, in conversation with Sixth & I’s Rabbi Nora Feinstein.
Activist Fred Guttenberg will share opening remarks.
