Sixth & I Need a Drink

These days, it feels like we could all use a drink. In this virtual happy hour series, notable figures from DC’s vibrant culinary scene share how their businesses have been impacted during such a challenging time for the restaurant industry, creative solutions for staying afloat, and which spirits have kept them in good spirits—in conversation with Sixth & I staff. They’ll also demo how to make their favorite beverage so you can recreate it at home.

Daniela Moreira and Andrew Dana are the owners of two award-winning restaurants, Timber Pizza Co. and Call Your Mother (a Jew-ish deli), and recently opened the “sorta South American” cafe Mercy Me. A chance meeting at a DC farmer’s market led the two to partner up to create playful, nostalgic, comfort food with serious flavor, and with carbs at the center of it. As their team grows, Dana and Moreira continue to focus on perfecting the best bagel, local sourcing, everything made from scratch, and a commitment to their team and neighborhoods with best-in-class benefits, life skills training, and community involvement.

If you can, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution of any amount. Donations will support SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders), which empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in the DC Metro region.
