Star Treatment: The Ethics of Rating a Human Being
- This event has passed.
Please RSVP here. Attendees will be emailed a Zoom link one hour before the class begins at 7:00 pm EST. With any questions, contact Leila.
With service-based apps like Lyft, Postmates, and Instacart, the ratings customers give to workers can have a direct impact on their livelihood and employment. Given questions of socio-economic status, quality customer service, and workers’ rights, Rabbi Jesse leads some learning on what our ethical and Jewish responsibilities are in a ratings-based gig economy, and grapple with the question of what it means to give a low rating to another person.
In order to make this as meaningful an experience as possible for all involved, video participation is strongly encouraged.
Sixth & I is committed to creating community and providing a forum for learning while our building is closed, but we need your help to sustain those who make this programming possible. If you can, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution of any amount to help support our staff, security, and contract workers during this difficult time.
