Named one of the 50 most powerful people in DC, Svetlana Legetic was born in the early 80s in Novi Sad, (then) Yugoslavia. She was educated in Serbia, England, and Georgia before moving to DC to work in urban revitalization and architecture. In 2006, she co-founded BYT Media, which The New York Times called “a website-turned-events-organizing juggernaut that has become the locus of Washington’s new-cool art and music scene.”

BYT engages more than 300,000 readers a month with content dedicated to all things good in the nation’s capital and beyond. BYT also partners with Smithsonian, National Geographic, the American Museum of Natural History, the Kennedy Center and more to create one-of-a-kind, open-to-the-public events. Still completely independently owned, BYT expanded to New York and Chicago and now operates a three-vertical business: content and editorial, events and experiences, and creative consulting.
